£25.49 per hour PAYE on nights | Up to £40.04 weekend overtime once stamped | Night shift

Morson Edge is looking for a Skilled Composite Aircraft Fitter to work on aircraft main wing assemblies and sub-assemblies, combining composite and metallic structures within a precision Aerospace manufacturing environment.

This opportunity would suit experienced Aircraft Fitters, Composite Fitters, Aircraft Structures Fitters, Composite Technicians, Aircraft Technicians, Structures Technicians, Sheet Metal Fitters or Aerospace Fitters with a strong background in aircraft assembly.

During training, you'll work Monday to Friday, 07:00–15:00, paid at £18.43 per hour.

Once trained and working nights, you'll earn £25.49 per hour PAYE. Once your stamp is gained, usually within 3–6 months, this increases to £26.62 per hour.

The night shift is:

Monday–Wednesday: 20:00–06:00
Thursday: 19:00–04:30

Each night includes a 30-minute unpaid lunch break, giving 9.5 paid hours per night.

Overtime is paid at:

• Weekdays: £28.75 per hour / £30.03 once stamped
• Weekends: £38.33 per hour / £40.04 once stamped

As a Composite Aircraft Fitter, you'll assemble and trim composite and metallic aircraft components to close tolerances, working from aircraft drawings, engineering processes and approved technical data.

You'll need experience with drilling, reaming, countersinking and riveting, alongside setting components in calibrated build jigs, deburring, fettling and using nut runners and pre-set torque guns.

An apprenticeship, NVQ Level 2 or City & Guilds Level 2 is required, alongside a minimum of three years' relevant trade experience assembling aircraft components from drawings and processes.

Successful applicants will complete an onsite practical trade test covering drilling, riveting and countersinking with composite materials.

Experience of CNC processes, SAP, quality systems and self-certification would be advantageous.
