Job Duties:

  • Design and develop mechanical systems and components for aerospace and aviation applications
  • Create detailed engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documentation
  • Perform complex analysis and calculations to ensure system performance and reliability
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate mechanical systems with other aircraft subsystems
  • Conduct feasibility studies and risk assessments to identify potential issues and propose solutions
  • Participate in prototype development, testing, and validation activities
  • Support manufacturing processes, troubleshooting any mechanical issues that may arise
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards, regulations, and quality requirements
  • Stay updated with the latest advancements in mechanical engineering technologies and techniques
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
  • Proven experience as a Mechanical Engineer in the aerospace or aviation industry
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical engineering principles, theories, and concepts
  • Proficiency in computer-aided design (CREO) software
  • Ability to interpret and create engineering drawings and specifications
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Effective communication and collaboration abilities
  • Attention to detail and strong organisational skills

Education:

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field

Experience:

Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Mechanical Engineer in the aerospace or aviation industry

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of mechanical engineering principles, theories, and concepts
  • Proficiency in computer-aided design (CREO) software
  • Ability to interpret and create engineering drawings and specifications
  • Experience with mechanical analysis tools and techniques
  • Knowledge of industry standards and regulations
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Excellent communication and collaboration abilities
  • Attention to detail and strong organisational skills
  • Proficiency in any or all of the following; CREO, WindChill, Teamcenter, DOORs and JIRA.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
  • Professional Engineering (PE) certification
  • Experience with aerospace and aviation regulatory requirements
  • Knowledge of electronics integration in mechanical systems
  • Experience with project management

Working Conditions:

The Senior Mechanical Engineer will primarily work in an office or design studio environment. However, occasional travel to manufacturing facilities or client sites may be required. The role may involve working on projects with tight deadlines, requiring flexibility and the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
