HGV Class 1 Driver/Shunter (Days)

Menzies Distribution Solutions are looking for an experienced HGV Class 1 Driver/Shunter to join us, providing a first-class service with our team in Blunham. You’ll be undertaking shunting duties along with the delivery & collection of products on behalf of Menzies Distribution Solutions Limited and its customers. 

**Please note - This will start as a shunting role that will then lead to driving after 6 months shunting cover**

The Details:

• Shift Pattern: Monday - Friday Days
• Salary: £42,507.26 Per Annum, Hourly Rate £17.02 (1.5 after 48 hours weekly)
• Start Times: Between 06:00 - 08:00
• Hours: 48 Per Week
• Monthly Pay
• Holiday Entitlement: 20 Days Plus Bank Holidays (If Applicable) 
• Parking onsite

Shunting and Driving Duties:

• General driving duties, observing current legal and best practice delivering and collection to/from our customer’s premises or other MDS locations.
• Delivering product on behalf of MDS and their customer 
• Use of electronic P.O.D and up to date technology (full training will be given to ensure best practice)
• Assisting with loading and unloading
• Moffett driving (training will be given)
• Types of vehicles range from van, rigid to class 1
• Opening and closing curtains
• Vehicle repairs
• Strapping/ transhipping loads
• Maintaining housekeeping standards
• Reporting H&S issues
• Liaising with the customer loading team

HGV Driver Requirements:

• A full UK C+E licence (essential)
• 12 months previous class 1 driving experience (desirable)
• Excellent driving skills
• No more than 6 points on your licence
• No previous disqualifications (DD,TT,DR,CD,IN)
• ‘Right To Work’ in the UK
• Good knowledge of drivers hours and WTD regulations
• Moffett licence desirable but full training will be given
