Choice Teachers is a long-established and reputable education recruitment agency with over 15 years of experience working with schools across the North West. We are currently working with a respected secondary school in Leigh, Greater Manchester, which is seeking a Science Technician to join their team on a part-time basis (3 days per week). This temporary role has the potential to become permanent for the right candidate.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare, set up, and maintain laboratory equipment for practical science lessons.

  • Assist teaching staff during experiments and demonstrations.

  • Ensure the safe storage and handling of chemicals and equipment in line with health and safety standards.

  • Support pupils and staff during practical activities.

  • Work collaboratively with the science department to enhance teaching and learning.

  • Manage and maintain lab stock and materials.

  • Be proactive and able to work independently when required.

  • A strong interest in science and education.

  • Confidence working in a classroom or lab environment.

  • Excellent organisational and communication skills.

  • Ability to manage time effectively and respond to the needs of the department.

  • Comfortable supporting students, including those with challenging behaviour.

  • Flexible, enthusiastic, and able to adapt quickly to changes.


Requirements

  • Educated to A-Level or Degree level in a relevant subject (Science preferred).

  • A valid Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).

  • Two professional references.

  • Right to work in the UK.
