Food Technology Teacher

Choice Teachers are currently working with two secondary schools in the City of London area who are looking for enthusiastic and experienced Food Technology Teachers to join their departments from September 2026.

We currently have two separate Food Technology vacancies available – one full-time position and one part-time position, providing flexibility depending on the working pattern you are looking for.

The successful Food Technology Teacher will deliver engaging practical and theory-based lessons, developing students' understanding of food preparation, nutrition, healthy eating, food safety and practical cooking skills.

Applications are welcomed from experienced Food Technology Teachers, Food Teachers, Design Technology Teachers, DT Teachers and Food Preparation and Nutrition Teachers with relevant classroom experience.

About the Food Technology Teacher Roles

• One full-time Food Technology position available
• One part-time Food Technology position available
• Teach engaging practical and theory-based Food Technology lessons
• Plan, prepare and assess lessons in line with the curriculum
• Support students in developing practical cooking and food preparation skills
• Teach key areas including nutrition, healthy eating and food safety
• Maintain a safe and organised practical classroom environment
• Monitor student progress and provide effective feedback
• Maintain high expectations for behaviour and achievement
• Work collaboratively with colleagues within the wider department

The Ideal Candidate Will:

• Hold QTS or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification
• Have experience teaching Food Technology, Food Preparation and Nutrition, Catering or a closely related subject
• Have strong practical Food Technology knowledge
• Be confident managing practical classroom environments
• Have excellent classroom and behaviour management skills
• Be passionate about engaging students through practical learning
• Have strong communication and organisational skills
• Be committed to delivering high-quality teaching and learning
• Experienced teachers and suitable ECTs are encouraged to apply
