Job Title: Textiles Technician

Salary: £22,737 – £24,702 FTE (Pro-rata, depending on hours and experience)

Choice Teachers, in partnership with a thriving upper school in the Biggleswade area, is seeking a practical, organised, and creative Textiles Technician to support the Design & Technology department from September 2025. This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of a supportive team that values innovation and hands-on learning in a well-equipped environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare materials and equipment for Textiles lessons

• Support teachers during practical sessions

• Maintain and monitor stock of textiles supplies and fabrics

• Ensure all machinery is clean, safe, and in good working order

• Assist students with their practical work, including using sewing machines and other tools

• Contribute to displays and exhibitions of student work

Ideal Candidate:

• Practical knowledge of textiles equipment (e.g., sewing machines, overlockers, fabric cutting tools)

• Experience in a school or workshop environment is desirable but not essential

• Creative, organised, and proactive

• Comfortable working with young people in a classroom setting

• DBS on the Update Service (or willing to apply)
