Choice Teachers, in partnership with a respected upper school in the Biggleswade area, is recruiting for an inspirational and forward-thinking Head of Geography to join their leadership team from September 2025. This is a fantastic opportunity for an ambitious educator ready to lead a strong department and help shape the strategic direction of the Humanities faculty.

The successful candidate will be an experienced Geography teacher with the vision and drive to raise attainment, develop curriculum innovation, and support colleagues to deliver outstanding teaching and learning.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the Geography department, overseeing curriculum planning, assessment, and enrichment

  • Deliver engaging and challenging Geography lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4 (KS5 desirable)

  • Monitor and improve student progress and outcomes

  • Support the development of teaching and learning across the department

  • Contribute to whole-school leadership and strategy as part of the middle leadership team

Ideal Candidate:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and substantial experience teaching Geography

  • Proven leadership or subject coordination experience within a secondary school

  • Passionate about Geography education and curriculum development

  • High expectations for student achievement and staff development

  • Excellent communication and team leadership skills

  • DBS on the Update Service (or willing to apply)
