HLTA – SEND Teaching Assistant (Higher Level Teaching Assistant)

Salary: £24,000 – £25,000 per year

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) or experienced SEND Teaching Assistant to join a supportive school in Peterborough. This role offers an opportunity to support children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) and help create an inclusive learning environment where every pupil can thrive.

The successful candidate will work closely with teaching staff to support learning both in the classroom and through small group or one-to-one interventions. You will play an important role in helping pupils access the curriculum, develop confidence, and achieve their potential.

Key responsibilities include supporting teaching and learning for pupils with SEND, delivering small group or individual support where required, assisting with adapting learning activities to meet individual needs, and working collaboratively with teachers and support staff to maintain a positive and supportive learning environment.

Requirements
HLTA or Teaching Assistant qualification (desirable, but not essential with strong experience)
Understanding of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)
Ability to build positive, trusting relationships with children and young people
Excellent communication and teamwork skills
A calm, patient, and resilient attitude
