We are currently seeking experienced SEMH Teaching Assistants to support pupils in Bradford schools who present with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs. This role requires resilience, patience, and a commitment to helping pupils achieve positive outcomes.


Key Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 and small-group support for pupils with SEMH needs.

  • Implement strategies to help pupils regulate emotions, behaviour, and engagement.

  • Support class teachers in delivering structured learning and consistent routines.

  • Promote positive relationships, trust, and a safe learning environment.

  • De-escalate challenging situations and follow behaviour support plans.

  • Liaise with pastoral teams, SENCOs, and safeguarding leads.

  • Encourage pupils’ academic, social, and emotional development.


Key Skills & Requirements

  • Experience supporting pupils with SEMH needs (essential).

  • UK school experience required.

  • Ability to build rapport and communicate effectively with vulnerable learners.

  • Strong behaviour management and emotional resilience.

  • Calm, proactive, and confident in supporting challenging behaviour.

  • Proven track record of de-escalation techniques
  • Understanding of safeguarding, trauma-informed practice, or nurture principles (desirable).

  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.
