1-to-1 Teaching Assistant – Welwyn Garden City

Salary: £80 – £90 per day (dependent on experience)

Choice Teachers are pleased to be recruiting on behalf of one of our valued clients, a welcoming and supportive school located in Welwyn Garden City. The school is seeking a dedicated and motivated individual to join their friendly and dynamic team, supporting children to reach their full potential.

Both full-time and part-time opportunities are available, offering flexibility for the right candidate.

This is a rewarding opportunity to make a meaningful difference by supporting an individual pupil within both the classroom and wider school environment. This is a fixed-term opportunity until July 2027, with the possibility of a permanent position for the right candidate.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide dedicated 1:1 support for a pupil with SEN, both during lessons and unstructured times such as break and lunchtime.

  • Support the pupil in accessing learning through adapted resources, visual aids and scaffolded activities.

  • Work collaboratively with the class teacher and SENCo to implement personalised support strategies and learning targets.

  • Encourage and support the development of social communication, independence and emotional regulation skills.

  • Maintain accurate and clear records of pupil progress, supporting effective communication with school staff and parents.

  • Contribute to creating an inclusive, nurturing and supportive learning environment.

The Ideal Candidate Will:

  • Have experience supporting children with Autism or additional learning needs.

  • Be able to build positive, trusting relationships with pupils.

  • Be calm, flexible and proactive in their approach.

  • Work effectively as part of a team, whilst also demonstrating initiative and independence.

  • Be passionate about inclusive education and supporting pupils with SEND.

Additional Information
There may be an opportunity to extend working hours on Mondays and Fridays to support the school’s wraparound care provision.
