We are recruiting an exceptional Pastoral Support Officer to join a welcoming and ambitious secondary school from September 2026. This is an exciting opportunity to become a key member of a dedicated pastoral team, supporting students' wellbeing, behaviour, attendance, and personal development.

Initially running until Christmas 2026, this role offers an excellent opportunity to secure a longer-term position, with a strong likelihood of extension for the right candidate.

The Role

As a Pastoral Support Officer, you'll play a vital role in creating a safe, positive, and inclusive learning environment by:

  • Building positive relationships with students across Key Stages 3 and 4.
  • Supporting behaviour management and promoting positive choices.
  • Working closely with Heads of Year, safeguarding teams, and senior leaders.
  • Providing mentoring and emotional support to students facing barriers to learning.
  • Monitoring attendance, punctuality, and student wellbeing.
  • Liaising with parents, carers, and external agencies where appropriate.
  • Helping students remain engaged, motivated, and ready to learn.
  • Contributing to the school's strong pastoral culture and inclusive ethos.

We're Looking For Someone Who:

  • Has experience working with young people in education, youth work, mentoring, pastoral care, or a similar setting.
  • Can confidently build rapport and establish positive relationships.
  • Remains calm, resilient, and solution-focused under pressure.
  • Has excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Is passionate about making a genuine difference to students' lives.
  • Understands safeguarding responsibilities within education (training can be provided).
