SEN Teaching Assistant – SEMH Focus
Location: St Albans
Start Date: ASAP
Setting: Specialist SEMH School
Contract: Full-time, long-term (with potential to become permanent)

Are you a compassionate, resilient and dedicated individual looking to make a real difference in the lives of young people? We are seeking an enthusiastic SEN Teaching Assistant to join a supportive  school in St Albans, starting as soon as possible.

About the Role

As an SEN TA, you will:

  • Support children with SEMH needs across Key Stages, both in and out of the classroom

  • Build strong, trusting relationships to help pupils feel safe and ready to learn

  • Work 1:1 or with small groups to support emotional regulation, engagement and academic progress

  • Implement tailored strategies, de-escalation techniques and behaviour support plans

  • Work closely with teachers, therapists and pastoral staff to promote positive outcomes

About You

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has experience supporting children or young people with SEMH, challenging behaviour or additional needs

  • Remains calm, patient and consistent under pressure

  • Is confident in promoting positive behaviour and emotional wellbeing

  • Can work collaboratively as part of a committed SEN team

  • Is available to start immediately
