Cover Supervisor – East London | September Start

Choice Teachers are looking to build our pool of Cover Supervisors over the summer ahead of the new academic year starting in September.

We are currently recruiting confident, adaptable and enthusiastic Cover Supervisors to work within a variety of secondary schools across East London, including Newham, Tower Hamlets, Hackney, Redbridge, Barking & Dagenham, Waltham Forest and surrounding boroughs.

This is an excellent opportunity for candidates with previous experience working in UK schools who are looking for flexible work, classroom experience, or a route into teacher training.

Daily Rate: £90 - £100 per day

About the Role

A Cover Supervisor plays a vital role in supporting schools by supervising classes during the short-term absence of teaching staff. You will be responsible for managing the classroom, ensuring students remain engaged with their learning, and delivering pre-planned work set by the teacher.

Whilst Cover Supervisors are not required to plan lessons or mark work, they are expected to maintain high standards of behaviour and create a positive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervising classes across a range of subjects.
• Delivering pre-set lesson materials provided by teaching staff.
• Managing classroom behaviour in line with school policies.
• Ensuring students remain focused and on task throughout lessons.
• Supporting students with their learning where appropriate.
• Providing feedback to teachers regarding student progress and behaviour.
• Promoting a safe, inclusive and positive learning environment.

Requirements

• Previous experience working within a UK school setting is highly desirable.
• Strong communication and behaviour management skills.
• Confidence leading and supervising groups of students.
• Flexible, professional and reliable approach to work.
• Ability to adapt quickly to different school environments.
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.
