Are you passionate about helping young people re-engage with education through practical, hands-on learning?

A specialist Alternative Provision setting is looking for an engaging and resilient Instructor to support young people aged 14–19 through vocational learning programmes including Motor Vehicle Studies, STEM, and Functional Skills.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone from a:

• Motor Vehicle background
• STEM/engineering background
• Vocational teaching/training environment
• Alternative Provision or SEN setting
• Youth work or mentoring background

who wants to make a genuine difference to young people who may have struggled in mainstream education.

The Role

You will deliver practical and engaging sessions to learners aged 14–19, helping them develop confidence, employability skills, and pathways into education, training, or work.

You’ll be responsible for:

• Delivering Motor Vehicle and STEM-based sessions
• Supporting Functional Skills in English & Maths
• Creating engaging, hands-on learning experiences
• Supporting learners with additional needs, EHCPs, and SEMH
• Encouraging positive behaviour and learner engagement
• Monitoring learner progress and attendance
• Working closely with support staff and external professionals

Ideal Candidate

We are looking for someone who:

• Has experience in Motor Vehicle Maintenance, STEM, or vocational training
• Can build positive relationships with young people
• Is confident managing behaviour in a calm and consistent manner
• Has experience working with disengaged learners, SEN, SEMH, or Alternative Provision
• Can adapt learning to suit individual needs
• Holds (or is willing to obtain) an Enhanced DBS

Desirable:

• PTLLS / Level 3 Award in Education & Training / PGCE
• Experience delivering accredited qualifications
• Knowledge of Alternative Provision or EHCPs
• First Aid qualification
• Full UK Driving Licence
