The Role of a Cover Supervisor

As a Cover Supervisor, you will play a vital role in maintaining the continuity of learning in the absence of a class teacher. Your primary responsibilities will include:

• Supervising whole classes and ensuring students remain engaged in their learning.

• Delivering pre-prepared lesson plans across various subjects.

• Managing student behaviour in accordance with the school’s policies and procedures.

• Encouraging a positive and productive learning environment.

• Providing support to learners and ensuring they stay on task.

What We Are Looking For

To excel in this role, you should possess the following qualities:

• Confidence in managing a classroom setting and ensuring a structured learning environment.

• Strong classroom management skills with the ability to foster a positive atmosphere.

• Excellent communication skills and the ability to engage with students of varying abilities.

• A proactive and adaptable approach, with the flexibility to work at short notice.

• The ability to work independently and manage large groups, including students who may exhibit challenging behaviour.

Requirements

To be eligible for this role, candidates should meet the following criteria:

• Ideally educated to A-level or degree level.

• Hold a valid DBS Certificate on the Update Service or be willing to obtain one.

• Provide two professional references.

• Have the legal right to work in the UK.

• Good Level of spoken English
