About the Role

A secondary school in St Neots is seeking a knowledgeable and practical Bricklaying Tutor to support students working towards vocational GCSE-level Construction/Bricklaying qualifications. This role is ideal for someone with hands-on trade experience who enjoys working with young people and can deliver safe, structured and engaging practical sessions.

You will work with small groups or individuals, helping them develop essential construction skills, understand assessment criteria, and build confidence in both theory and practical components.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver practical bricklaying skills sessions aligned with GCSE or vocational specifications

  • Support students with course content, techniques, safety and portfolio evidence

  • Maintain a safe and organised workshop environment

  • Demonstrate industry-standard methods and correct tool usage

  • Provide constructive feedback to help students progress

  • Work closely with teaching staff, assessors and pastoral teams

The Ideal Candidate

  • Experience in bricklaying, construction, or a related trade

  • Teaching, tutoring or mentoring experience (school-based experience beneficial but not essential)

  • Strong communication skills and ability to motivate students

  • Commitment to maintaining safety and workshop standards

  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
