About the Role

This role is pivotal in supporting the welfare and accommodation needs of international students. You will work closely with homestay families, students, and internal departments to provide a seamless experience for those studying away from home. Your responsibilities will encompass student accommodation, welfare, social activities, and admissions processes.

This position involves occasional evening and weekend work on a rota basis, as well as travel to visit homestay families.


Key Responsibilities

Accommodation Management

  • Source and assess quality accommodation, including homestays, while ensuring safeguarding and health and safety standards.

  • Maintain a robust database of accommodation options and act as the main point of contact for all accommodation-related inquiries.

  • Conduct annual inspections of homestay accommodations, including DBS checks and safeguarding assessments.

  • Liaise with homestay families and students to ensure high levels of satisfaction.

  • Develop new homestay family opportunities to meet growing student needs.

Welfare Support

  • Serve as the first point of contact for welfare and accommodation issues throughout the academic year.

  • Provide guidance on accessing healthcare services and coordinate a social programme for international students.

  • Address safeguarding concerns, referring cases to relevant support services when necessary.

  • Organise transportation, including weekly bus passes and airport transfers.

Admissions & Compliance

  • Process ESOL admissions and assist with visa applications, ensuring compliance with UKVI requirements.

  • Maintain accurate records and liaise with finance to ensure timely homestay payments.

  • Support financial management related to student accommodation and activities.

Event Coordination

  • Organise and participate in social activities and meet-and-greet sessions for international student groups.

  • Coordinate departure briefings and assist with transport bookings for social events.


About You

Essential Skills & Qualifications

  • GCSEs in English and Maths (Grade 4/C or above) or equivalent experience.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and CRM systems.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with experience in customer service or administrative roles.

  • Knowledge of safeguarding practices and student welfare requirements.

  • Understanding of visa application processes and compliance regulations.

  • Ability to work independently, solve problems, and manage tasks with attention to detail.

Desirable Experience

  • Familiarity with accommodation and welfare needs of international students.

  • Experience in a similar role within education or hospitality.

  • Knowledge of Cambridge and surrounding areas.
