Hair, Barbering and Beauty Lecturers

Choice Teachers are currently seeking experienced Hair, Barbering and Beauty Lecturers on behalf of a Further Education college.

The college is looking for candidates of the highest standard. Its learners deserve the strongest possible start to their studies, and it is seeking agency lecturers who share its commitment to excellence, high expectations and outstanding learner outcomes.

Some courses may be delivered at off-site community venues.

Requirements

  • A recognised teaching qualification, such as a PGCE, CertEd or equivalent
  • Relevant Hairdressing, Barbering and/or Beauty Therapy qualifications
  • Enhanced DBS certificate registered on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain a new one
  • Two satisfactory professional references
  • Right to work in the UK
  • Previous experience teaching Hairdressing, Barbering and/or Beauty within a Further Education setting

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging, high-quality Hairdressing, Barbering and/or Beauty lessons
  • Deliver teaching across the relevant course levels and specialist subject areas
  • Mark and assess learners’ practical and theoretical work, providing constructive feedback
  • Monitor learner progress and adapt lessons where required
  • Use practical, creative and interactive teaching methods to encourage participation
  • Support learners with additional needs, including those with social, emotional and mental health needs
  • Maintain effective classroom and behaviour management
  • Promote high expectations for achievement, behaviour and professional standards
  • Follow all relevant health and safety procedures during practical activities
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues and follow the college’s assessment and reporting procedures
  • Maintain accurate records of learner attendance, achievement and progress

Interview Process

Candidates will be required to attend an interview and deliver a short micro-teach session to the panel, based on their specialist subject area.

Key Dates

  • Interviews: Tuesday 1st September 2026
  • Start dates: Wednesday 2nd September, Thursday 3rd September or Friday 4th September 2026
  • Teaching commences: Week commencing Monday 7th September 2026
  • Contract ends: October half term, with the possibility of an extension to be confirmed

Candidates must be available to attend the interview and deliver the required micro-teach session.
