A well-established secondary school in Cambridge is seeking an ambitious and inspirational Head of Art to lead a successful and creative Art Department on a permanent basis.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Art teacher with strong leadership skills, or an aspiring middle leader ready to take the next step in their career. The successful candidate will be responsible for driving high standards of teaching and learning, developing an engaging curriculum, and promoting creativity across the school.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the Art Department, ensuring outstanding teaching and learning.
  • Develop and implement a creative and ambitious Art curriculum across Key Stages 3–5.
  • Monitor student progress and attainment, implementing strategies to raise achievement.
  • Support, mentor, and develop department staff.
  • Manage departmental resources and budgets effectively.
  • Promote enrichment opportunities, exhibitions, and extracurricular activities.

Requirements

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is essential.
  • Degree in Art, Fine Art, Design, or a related subject.
  • Proven experience teaching Art at secondary level.
  • Previous leadership or departmental responsibility experience is desirable.
  • Strong organisational, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
