SEND Teaching Assistant – Autism Support / Early Years SEND

Choice Teachers are currently working with a primary school in Camden who are seeking experienced and dedicated SEND Teaching Assistants, Autism Support Workers, and SEN Learning Support Assistants to join their team from September 2026 for full academic year placements.

The school has vacancies across Early Years SEND, Year 1 SEND, Year 2 SEND, and within a specialist Autism Provision supporting pupils with non-verbal autism, developmental delay, and complex additional needs.

This is a highly rewarding but physically demanding role, ideal for experienced SEND Teaching Assistants who are passionate about supporting children with autism and complex learning needs.


About the Role – SEND Teaching Assistant / Autism Support

  • Support pupils with Autism, developmental delay, and additional complex needs
  • Work within Early Years SEND, KS1 SEND classrooms, and specialist autism provision
  • Support non-verbal pupils with communication and learning activities
  • Carry out personal care and intimate care, including nappy changing when required
  • Support pupils during periods of dysregulation and challenging behaviour
  • Work closely with teachers, therapists, and SEND professionals
  • Create a safe, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment

The Ideal Candidate Will:

  • Have experience supporting children with Autism and SEND
  • Have experience within a special school, SEND provision, or complex needs setting
  • Be confident supporting non-verbal pupils and children with developmental delay
  • Be comfortable carrying out personal care and intimate care duties
  • Be calm, resilient, and able to manage physically demanding situations
  • Be passionate about supporting vulnerable children and improving outcomes
  • Have strong communication and teamwork skills

Information Session – Netley Primary School

Suitable candidates will be invited to attend an introductory session at the school before trial days take place.

Wednesday 3rd June – 5:00pm

  • Tour of the school
  • Introduction to the SEND roles available
  • Opportunity to ask questions and meet the team

Trial days for shortlisted candidates will take place during the final half term of the academic year.
