Job Title: Facilities Technician
Location: Hackney
Salary: £28,947 – £31,836 per annum
Contract: Full-time, 37.5 hours/week (Monday–Friday, shift-based)

Overview:
We are recruiting an experienced Facilities Technician to join a dynamic and forward-thinking educational environment based in the Hackney area. Reporting to the Facilities Manager, you’ll play a key role in ensuring the site is safe, secure, and fully operational for staff, students, and visitors.

Key Responsibilities:

• Carry out general maintenance across multiple trades (plumbing, electrics, joinery, decorating, etc.)
• Operate and maintain key plant and systems (HVAC, BMS, access control, fire/intruder alarms)
• Support daily site operations – room setups, deliveries, health & safety checks, and emergency drills
• Act as a keyholder and assist in building security and alarm response
• Provide first aid (training provided) and drive the Academy minibus (must be 21+ with 2 years' UK driving licence)
• Liaise with external contractors and event management partners
• Respond to helpdesk and staff requests via digital systems (Slack & online portal)

Requirements:

• Solid experience in facilities or maintenance roles, with strong DIY/multi-trade skills
• Ability to work flexibly, including overtime and occasional call-outs
• Competent with IT-based systems for logging tasks
• Positive attitude, strong work ethic, and a commitment to safety and service

Desirable:

• Previous school or public-sector facilities experience
• First Aid certification (or willingness to train)
