We’re working with a forward-thinking secondary school in the Wimbledon area that prides itself on creating a safe, respectful, and high-expectation learning environment. The school is now seeking a dedicated Behaviour Support Assistant to join their team and help promote positive behaviour, emotional development, and academic progress.
The Role
As a Behaviour Support Officer, you will play a key role in maintaining a positive classroom environment and supporting students with social, emotional, and behavioural needs. You’ll work closely with the teaching and pastoral staff to implement consistent strategies and provide both in-class and out-of-class support.
In addition to mentoring responsibilities, you will be expected to cover lessons in the absence of teachers, ensuring continuity of learning and maintaining clear behaviour expectations.
Key Responsibilities

Provide targeted support for students with SEMH needs, ADHD, autism or trauma-related challenges

Support the management of behaviour across the school, particularly in challenging situations

Deliver 1:1 and small group interventions to help students build resilience, emotional regulation, and engagement

Promote positive behaviour and learning routines both in and outside of lessons

Supervise whole-class lessons in the absence of teachers, following pre-set plans and maintaining a calm, focused classroom environment

Work collaboratively with the SENCO, pastoral team and classroom staff to deliver joined-up support

Apply consistent boundaries and restorative approaches to de-escalate situations effectively
