About the Role
We are looking for a passionate and dedicated Teacher of Resistant Materials to join a well-established secondary school in Dunstable from September 2025. This is a fantastic opportunity to deliver inspiring and practical lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4, fostering students’ creativity, technical skills, and problem-solving abilities within Design & Technology.
As part of a supportive department committed to high standards and professional development, you will contribute to curriculum planning and encourage students to achieve their best in both theory and practical work.
Key Responsibilities

Plan and deliver high-quality Resistant Materials lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4

Prepare students for GCSE Design & Technology examinations and practical assessments

Track and monitor student progress, providing constructive feedback to support improvement

Develop engaging schemes of work tailored to the needs of all learners

Contribute to extracurricular activities such as design clubs or workshops

Maintain a positive and productive classroom and workshop environment

Collaborate with colleagues to enhance the Design & Technology curriculum
-
Ensure adherence to health and safety standards within practical lessons
Requirements

Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)

Experience teaching Resistant Materials or Design & Technology at the secondary level
-
Strong subject knowledge and passion for practical and creative teaching

Excellent classroom management and communication skills

Commitment to supporting student well-being and achievement

Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)

Must be 18 years of age or older
