About the Role
We are looking for a passionate and dedicated Teacher of Resistant Materials to join a well-established secondary school in Dunstable from September 2025. This is a fantastic opportunity to deliver inspiring and practical lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4, fostering students’ creativity, technical skills, and problem-solving abilities within Design & Technology.

As part of a supportive department committed to high standards and professional development, you will contribute to curriculum planning and encourage students to achieve their best in both theory and practical work.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver high-quality Resistant Materials lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4

  • Prepare students for GCSE Design & Technology examinations and practical assessments

  • Track and monitor student progress, providing constructive feedback to support improvement

  • Develop engaging schemes of work tailored to the needs of all learners

  • Contribute to extracurricular activities such as design clubs or workshops

  • Maintain a positive and productive classroom and workshop environment

  • Collaborate with colleagues to enhance the Design & Technology curriculum

  • Ensure adherence to health and safety standards within practical lessons

Requirements

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)

  • Experience teaching Resistant Materials or Design & Technology at the secondary level

  • Strong subject knowledge and passion for practical and creative teaching

  • Excellent classroom management and communication skills

  • Commitment to supporting student well-being and achievement

  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)

  • Must be 18 years of age or older
