Location: Crystal Palace, London

We are seeking a passionate, creative, and committed Teacher of Media to join a thriving Sixth Form community in the vibrant Crystal Palace area. If you’re enthusiastic about media education and want to inspire the next generation of content creators, critical thinkers, and storytellers, this could be your next exciting opportunity.

About the Sixth Form

Situated in a culturally rich and dynamic part of South London, this dedicated Sixth Form centre supports students aged 16–19 with a strong ethos of academic excellence and pastoral care. The college is proud of its inclusive, high-achieving environment, where students from diverse backgrounds are empowered to succeed in education and beyond.

Media is one of the centre’s most popular and successful subjects, attracting ambitious students with aspirations in film, journalism, digital content, advertising, marketing, and more. The college offers both A-level and vocational pathways and is known for its supportive and innovative approach to teaching and learning.

The Role

As Teacher of Media, you will play a key role in delivering engaging, challenging, and high-quality lessons at Level 3 (A-level and/or vocational equivalent). You’ll bring the subject to life through both analytical and creative work, helping students develop the technical skills and critical understanding needed to succeed in today’s media landscape.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Teach Media to post-16 students at Level 3, including A-level and/or vocational qualifications.

  • Deliver dynamic and inclusive lessons that encourage creativity, critical thinking, and independent learning.

  • Contribute to curriculum planning and assessment within the Media department.

  • Track and support student progress, offering feedback and interventions to help learners achieve their full potential.

  • Support students with university applications, creative portfolios, and progression into higher education or industry.

  • Participate in wider college life, including open days, enrichment activities, and educational trips.

  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to maintain high standards and a positive learning culture.

What We’re Looking For

The ideal candidate will:

  • Hold QTS (or equivalent teaching qualification) and a relevant degree in Media, Film, or a related field.

  • Have experience teaching Media at post-16 level (A-level, BTEC, or UAL), with a track record of positive student outcomes.

  • Be confident using a range of media production tools and software, such as Adobe Creative Cloud.

  • Demonstrate strong subject knowledge, alongside a passion for media in all its forms.

  • Be a reflective practitioner who values continuous improvement and inclusive teaching.

  • Have excellent organisational and interpersonal skills, and enjoy working as part of a team.

  • Be committed to nurturing student potential and helping every learner find their voice.

This post is advertised by Choice Teachers on behalf of a valued client based in the Crystal Palace area.

If you're ready to share your enthusiasm for media, help young people grow into skilled, confident creators and analysts—and make a real difference in a supportive Sixth Form setting—we would love to hear from you.
