Industrial Buyer – Rochdale

Rochdale | Manufacturing | Permanent | £40,000 – £44,000 | Working Days, 39 Hours/Week

Our large client, a well-established manufacturing business in Rochdale is seeking an experienced Industrial Buyer to join their Purchasing team. This is a hands-on, key role supporting the central purchasing function, ensuring materials and supplies are delivered to the correct specification, quantity, and price to meet business needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Negotiate with suppliers to secure competitive prices, quality, and stock levels

  • Manage supplier performance and ensure KPIs are met and improved

  • Oversee Purchase Order system (MRP) and associated ordering processes

  • Collaborate with other departments to evaluate goods and services

  • Resolve supplier discrepancies with Accounts and take corrective action where necessary

  • Review supplier value to maintain competitiveness

  • Provide cover for the Senior Buyer when required

About You

  • 5+ years’ buying/procurement experience, including 3+ years in an industrial or manufacturing environment

  • Experience working in an MRP environment (EFACS experience advantageous)

  • Strong track record of negotiating with large/global suppliers

  • Educated to A-Level or degree standard; CIPS Level 4 Diploma or working towards MCIPS

  • Excellent IT skills (Microsoft Office) and full UK driving licence

  • Strong planning, organisational, and communication skills
