Job Title: Structural Steel Estimator
Location: Walkden, Manchester
Salary: £45,000 per annum
Hours: Monday – Thursday 07:30 – 16:00, Friday 07:30 – 13:00
Our client, a leading structural steel fabrication company, is looking for an experienced Structural Steel Estimator to join their team. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with a strong background in steel estimation who can manage enquiries, visit sites, prepare accurate quotes, and convert orders into manufacturing packages. You will play a key role in maintaining excellent client relationships while identifying new business opportunities.
Structural Steel Estimator Key Responsibilities
- Prepare accurate quotations and convert enquiries into manufacturing packages.
- Visit client sites to understand requirements and provide professional guidance.
- Identify the most efficient fabrication processes and associated costs.
- Communicate effectively with workshop teams, project managers, and clients.
- Negotiate and complete tenders to secure sales.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients, identifying new opportunities.
- Manage workload independently, ensuring timely and high-quality responses to all enquiries.
Structural Steel Estimator Skills & Experience
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience estimating structural steel projects.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and extract material requirements.
- Strong knowledge of the steel fabrication sector and related supply chains.
- Proven track record of client-facing sales and relationship management.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and organisational skills.
- Strong numerical, financial, and commercial awareness.
- IT literate with proficiency in Microsoft Office packages.
- Proactive, highly organised, and capable of working both independently and as part of a team.
