Location: Office base, with travel to project sites, tenanted and empty properties as required
Contract Type: Full-time, Permanent
Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience
Driving Requirement: Full driving licence and access to a vehicle required

On behalf of our client, we are recruiting an experienced and motivated Building Surveyor to join their Housing Services team.

This is a vital role involving the technical inspection, maintenance, and improvement of housing stock and public buildings. The successful candidate will be responsible for a broad range of surveying duties, including planned and responsive repairs, void property inspections, disrepair cases, damp investigations, and capital investment works.

Building Surveyor Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Conducting pre-, during-, and post-work inspections for repairs, void reinstatement, and investment projects.
  • Preparing clear and accurate technical specifications for works to domestic and public buildings.
  • Diagnosing building defects and recommending effective remedial solutions.
  • Monitoring health and safety compliance, including CDM regulations and method statements.
  • Managing and coordinating contractors and ensuring high standards of delivery.
  • Advising internal teams on technical matters, budgets, and service improvements.
  • Acting as a deputy for the Repairs or Contracts Manager when required.

Building Surveyor Candidate Profile:

Essential:

  • RICS-accredited degree or equivalent qualification.
  • Extensive experience in surveying domestic properties and public buildings.
  • Solid understanding of building construction, repairs, and maintenance practices.
  • Strong background in contractor management and project delivery.
  • Effective communicator with the ability to adapt technical information for varied audiences.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, etc.).

Desirable:

  • Successful completion of the RICS Assessment of Professional Competence (APC).
  • Experience working within a large organisation.
  • Background in budget management and property expenditure planning.
  • Previous involvement in planned maintenance programmes.
