Information Governance Officer 

Location: Near Fareham

Salary: £32,247- £34,329 per annum

Vacancy Type: Fixed term for up to 2 years

Hours: 37 hours per week, Monday- Friday with flexible office hours

The organisation supports UK and international law enforcement by processing criminal records for the purposes of public protection, safeguarding and worldwide community safety. 

They are growing, now employing more than 300 people to support the fight against crime as a global leader in their field.

They are looking for an enthusiastic individual with the ability to work with others to identify solutions to information management scenarios to join them as an Information Governance Officer, within a national policing unit working to ensure safer communities in the UK and around the world.

The Role

The successful candidate will become part of a team providing knowledge and support to all departments in matters relating to information management and data protection.  

The post holder will, using a keen eye for detail, provide support to the Data Protection Officer, Information Manager and Information Governance Supervisor through the collation of data breach trend analysis and providing guidance to internal teams on data breach management. 

The role is also responsible for the maintenance of their Information Sharing Agreements and the facilitation of Court Orders received into the organisation, both tasks afford regular engagement with external stakeholders. 

The role holder will also be involved in regular compliance audits supporting the organisation to maintain compliance with the data protection principles in all of its processing activities.  

Skills and Qualifications

  • Educated to QCF Level 3 or work experience deemed to have brought the role holder to a comparable level
  • Experience working within information governance or data protection.
  • High level of attention to detail and experience working within and applying formal/legal frameworks to a wide variety of operational situations, in particular the Data Protection Act 2018
  • Proficient with Microsoft applications to include Word, outlook and Excel
