Network Operations Manager – 6-Month Contract - Hybrid

VIQU IT is supporting a customer in the search for an experienced Network Operations Manager to join their team. This role is focused on the management of day-to-day network operations, including managing a team of network engineers, resource allocation, operational monitoring, incident and problem management, vulnerability management, and ensuring the stability, performance, and security of the network environment through strong BAU governance.

This position is suited to someone who is confident operating in a hands-on operational leadership role, overseeing network support activities, driving incident and problem management, and ensuring effective monitoring, alerting, and service restoration. The successful candidate will also focus on capacity planning around BAU activities and work closely with the Network Team Lead to ensure effective alignment between operational priorities and broader network objectives. The role requires strong organisational capability to manage workloads, prioritise BAU activity, and ensure operational efficiency across the network function.

Network Operations Manager – Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the day-to-day operational management of the network infrastructure environment
  • Manage workload allocation and prioritisation across BAU network operations
  • Own and drive incident, problem, and major incident management, ensuring timely resolution and effective root cause analysis
  • Manage and improve monitoring, alerting, and operational visibility across the network estate
  • Lead BAU network support activities, ensuring performance, availability, and security of services
  • Support vulnerability management and remediation coordination, working with technical teams to reduce risk
  • Carry out capacity planning and performance tracking, ensuring optimal use of network resources within BAU constraints
  • Engage with senior stakeholders to provide clear updates on service health, incidents, and operational risk
  • Coordinate with third-party suppliers for operational support, maintenance, and incident resolution
  • Ensure adherence to ITSM processes including incident, problem, change, and request management

Network Operations Manager – Skills & Experience

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a Network Operations Manager or Senior Network Team Lead role
  • Strong experience in incident, problem, and major incident management within enterprise environments
  • Good understanding of monitoring, alerting, and operational support frameworks
  • Experience with vulnerability management and remediation coordination
  • Strong understanding of BAU operations in complex enterprise network environments
  • Familiarity with ITSM processes (incident, problem, change management)
  • Strong organisational and coordination skills with the ability to manage competing operational priorities
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, particularly in operational situations

This Network Operations Manager role requires onsite presence in Glasgow 2–3 days per week.
