About the role

This role provides consultancy services to clients while managing a team of Water Safety and Asbestos Consultants. You will possess a high level of relevant technical knowledge and experience and will be responsible for ensuring all work delivered by the consultant teams is technically accurate and completed in line with applicable legislation and guidance.

You will be expected to demonstrate a high standard of customer service alongside a commercially driven approach, working closely with the Head of Resource Management, Technical Leads and the Peer Review team.

As the Environmental Services Team Manager, you will be at the forefront of delivering our high‑quality services to clients. Excellent communication skills and a positive, ‘can‑do’ attitude are essential, along with mental agility, resilience and a proactive approach to problem solving. Planning ahead to identify potential issues and taking personal responsibility for completing tasks, projects and assignments will be key to success in the role.

 

What you’ll be getting up to

·       Oversee the effective management of the Environmental Services team to ensure team objectives are being met.

·       Perform line management duties with regards to the Environmental Services team consultants, including their professional development through periodic appraisals.

·       Provide leadership, direction, guidance and motivation to all employees.

·       Monitoring team SLA performance progress throughout each month, to ensure the company achieves its objectives as cost-effectively and efficiently as possible.

·       Be proactive and to use initiative to develop / enhance service delivery approaches through the identification of improving work efficiencies.

·       Implement the policies of the company and making sure they are adhered to consistently.

·       Support the QA & Technical Manager and the Quality, Accreditations and SHE Manager in overseeing the QA process in terms of ensuring quality reports are produced in accordance with SLAs, Client Protocols, Vantify standards, as well as legislative requirements and industry standards.

·       Ensure feedback to Consultants is constructive, balanced and appropriate.

·       Assist the Quality, Accreditations and SHE Manager in maintaining the corporate professional memberships, namely, LCA and UKAS.

·       Assist the Quality, Accreditations and SHE Manager where required to develop Vantify internal safety systems and processes.

·       Display a good working knowledge of industry standards and practices, including service specifications and company services offered.

·       Develop working knowledge of industry regulations, restrictions, and laws (specifically in regards to water safety and asbestos), ensuring consultancy teams adhere to all relevant legislation and guidance.

·       Be fully acquainted with report production methodologies and the functionality of Vantify Risk Manager health and safety management system, and the client specific modifications to these systems.

·       Periodically undertake consultancy services directly.

In order to excel in this role you need…

  • High levels of integrity; honest, authentic and trustworthy
  • Relevant academic qualification with professional membership and ongoing CPD
  • Minimum 5 years’ consultancy experience
  • Proven experience in a senior management role leading multi‑disciplinary consulting teams
  • Strong IT capability (Excel, Word, PowerPoint and related management systems)
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication (written and verbal) and customer‑facing skills
  • Self‑motivated, resilient and able to work independently with a proactive problem‑solving approach
  • Comprehensive industry knowledge combined with commercial awareness
  • Experience within property or facilities management sectors
  • Delivery of multiple service disciplines
  • Business or financial qualifications, training or experience

  • Working Pattern: Monday to Friday 9 – 5:30pm with a one hour unpaid lunch break.
