The SIU has an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic Talent to join our dynamic team passionate to fight against corruption and recovery of financial losses suffered by the state. The incumbent in this role will lead a dynamic team of Legal Practitioners, institute and conduct civil proceedings in a Special Tribunal or High Court. Main purpose: To achieve appropriate legal outcomes against perpetrators of maladministration and corruption and protect the legal interests of the SIU and ensure compliance with appropriate legislative and regulatory requirements. Minimum qualification and experience: LLB (NQF 8) Admitted Attorney or Advocate of the High Court of South Africa At least fifteen years relevant experience after admission as an Attorney or Advocate within criminal/civil litigation environment At least ten years’ experience at a senior management level, Executive experience will be an added advantage. Key performance areas (Include but not limited to): Contribute to the strategic direction of the SIU. Provide strategic direction for the division. Contribute functional expertise at various forums. Provide advice on strategies for the prosecution of Civil Litigation cases. Provide Corporate Legal advice to the SIU. Strategically manage and direct the presentation of cases. Financial Management. Human Resource Management. Stakeholder Management. Technical skills: Very strong team leadership, litigation and drafting skills. Negotiation skills. Analytical skills. The ability to prepare policy-related briefings and present policy proposals. Presentation skills. Required knowledge and Behavioural (include but not limited to): Excellent knowledge and understanding of Civil Law and Litigation, Competition Law, Common Law and High Court rules and procedures. Broad understanding of the Economic environment. Knowledge of the Regulatory environment. Knowledge of relevant laws and policies. Strategic leadership and decision making. Information monitoring.
