Import Customs Clerk - Ipswich

Salary: Up to £35,000 (negotiable based on experience)

Our client, a well-established international logistics and freight forwarding company, is currently seeking an experienced Import Customs Clerk to join their growing operations team based in Ipswich.

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a dynamic and fast-paced environment where your skills and expertise in customs clearance will be highly valued and rewarded.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage import customs entries using the CDS system
• Handle customs clearance for seafreight shipments
• Liaise with clients, HMRC, and internal teams to ensure smooth and compliant import operations
• Utilize Cargowise (preferred) or similar freight software for documentation and tracking
• Support wider operations team with general forwarding tasks when required
• Work with multi-modal shipments including air, sea, and road
• Export knowledge is a bonus but not essential

Essential Skills & Experience:

• Minimum 2 years of experience in import customs clearance
• Strong working knowledge of CDS for customs entries
• Experience with seafreight import processes
• Proficient in Cargowise or similar freight systems (preferred)
• Solid understanding of freight forwarding operations
• Excellent attention to detail and communication skills
