We are working with a global Freight Forwarding company who are currently seeking a Sea Import Clerk to join their team based in Essex due to expansion.

The role of the Sea Import Clerk is to manage the import process from start to finish using the inhouse system, to submit the Customs enteries via CDS,  book deliveries with hauliers, and ensure clients are kept informed of all delivery progress.

Key responsibilities of the Sea Import Clerk include:

• Ensuring all import jobs are completed accurately and efficiently.
• Compiling and entering import documentation and clearance into the CDS.
• Monitoring cargo movements from the point of origin to destination.
• Providing quotes for new business and securing the best costs for services.
• Ensuring compliance with all relevant legislation and regulations governing cargo movements and associated documentation.

To succeed as the Sea Import Clerk, you will need a minimum of 2 years of experience working within the Seafreight industry at a similar level.

We are especially interested in candidates who have experience with Sea/Ocean and a solid understanding of  Import Freight clearances.

Required skills and experience:

• In-depth understanding of import regulations and customs procedures for ocean and road shipments.
• Proven experience in handling import documentation and coordinating with customs agents.
• Strong attention to detail and exceptional organisational skills.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to build strong working relationships.
• Proficiency in using relevant software and systems for import processing.
