Technical Manager – Ground Engineering (Major Infrastructure Project)

Proman UK, on behalf of our client, is recruiting for a Technical Manager to support the delivery of ground engineering works on a nationally significant infrastructure project in the UK.

About the Project

Our client is delivering a complex infrastructure programme involving advanced civil and geotechnical engineering. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to a high-impact project with long-term national value.

Role Overview

Reporting to the Senior Technical Manager, you will oversee technical operations across one or more projects, ensuring all design activities meet industry standards and internal procedures. You’ll lead technical teams, support tenders, and drive innovation in engineering solutions.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Leadership & Delivery

  • Manage technical aspects from tender to execution
  • Ensure compliance with ISO procedures, Eurocodes, and industry standards
  • Provide engineering support to meet programme, cost, quality, and safety goals

Collaboration & Strategy

  • Work with UK and international teams to promote technical capabilities
  • Lead technical input during tenders and develop value-engineered solutions

Team Mobilisation & Management

  • Guide technical engineers and draftspersons
  • Coordinate with internal technical centres and external partners

Technical Marketing & Communication

  • Produce technical content for marketing and client engagement
  • Represent the company’s technical excellence in industry interactions

Candidate Profile

Education & Experience

  • Degree in Geotechnical, Civil, or Structural Engineering
  • Chartered or near-chartered status (e.g., MICE, MIStructE)
  • 12–15 years’ experience in a contractor environment, ideally in technical leadership

Technical Skills

  • Strong knowledge of Eurocodes, DMRB, CDM, and HSEQ legislation
  • Proficient in geotechnical software (Plaxis, Frew, Wallap)
  • Skilled in coordinating technical teams and external stakeholders
