Position

We are seeking a Diaphragm Wall (D-Wall) Deputy Plant Manager to act as deputy to the General Plant Manager for our client's Ground Engineering Works, with a focus on Diaphragm Wall and Cutter Soil Mixing activities.

This role is both technical and administrative: you will oversee the maintenance and efficient use of equipment, supervise daily and weekly checks, coordinate preventive and corrective maintenance operations, and ensure all interventions are properly recorded in the Maintenance Management System. You will work closely with other Deputy Plant Managers to ensure efficient use of project resources and smooth coordination across all ground engineering sections.

Main Responsibilities

Leadership & Coordination

  • Act as deputy to the General Plant Manager, ensuring compliance with plant and equipment procedures
  • Lead and coordinate a team focused on Diaphragm Wall and Cutter Soil Mixing scopes
  • Participate in daily project team meetings and report plant-related issues to minimize production impacts

Equipment Setup & Maintenance

  • Oversee the setup of the site-based workshop, including procurement of tools and consumables
  • Plan and supervise daily and weekly equipment checks
  • Coordinate preventive maintenance and corrective interventions, sourcing parts and allocating resources as needed
  • Ensure servicing checks are performed on schedule and within budget

Record Keeping & Reporting

  • Record all preventive and corrective maintenance details (manhours, team members, materials) in the Maintenance Management System
  • Track and report downtime causes, preparing weekly efficiency reports for the Project Manager
  • Prepare decommissioning reports (technical and cost analysis) at project completion

Profile Sought

Education & Experience

  • Minimum 7 years’ experience in major equipment maintenance on diaphragm wall and/or cutter soil mixing construction projects
  • At least 4 years’ proven experience in team coordination roles
  • Previous experience in nuclear, alliance, or joint venture projects is an advantage

Technical Skills & Competencies

  • Excellent managerial and leadership skills
  • Fully conversant with Microsoft Office suite
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to propose alternatives during breakdowns

Other Requirements

  • Candidates must have the legal right to work in the UK at the time of application
  • Willingness to work on-site at Sizewell C, Suffolk
