Shift Technician (Afternoon Shift)


Location: Wythenshawe
Hours: 13:00 – 21:00 (37.5 hours per week)
Grade: Level 3
Pay: £27200 per year


About the Role


We are currently seeking a Shift Technician to join our Engineering team. This is an excellent
opportunity for a hands-on individual who enjoys problem-solving, working with machinery,
and contributing to a high-performing production environment.
You will play a key role in ensuring production runs efficiently, acting as the technical expert
for equipment operations while supporting both Production and Engineering teams.
Flexibility with working hours may be required to support business needs.


Key Responsibilities


• Act as the first point of contact for equipment-related issues, ensuring timely
escalation when required
• Support the delivery of the production plan by maximising equipment performance
and uptime
• Carry out line start-ups, shutdowns, and changeovers safely and efficiently
• Coordinate production line set-up, including hygiene preparation
• Ensure availability of spare parts and line-side consumables to minimise downtime
• Complete planned maintenance activities in line with schedules
• Monitor equipment performance and address minor faults using appropriate tools
and techniques
• Maintain accurate documentation, including:
o Daily technician checks
o Shift handover reports
o Health & safety start-up inspections
• Collaborate with Production, Supervisors, and Engineering teams to resolve issues
and improve performance
• Comply fully with company policies, procedures, and health & safety standards


About You


• Previous experience in a FMCG (Fast-Moving Consumer Goods) environment
• Strong understanding of health & safety regulations and safe working practices
• Practical experience working with machinery and production equipment
• IT literate with the ability to complete reports and documentation
• Effective communicator, both written and verbal


Desirable Skills & Qualifications


• GCSEs (or equivalent)
• Mechanical qualification (e.g. NVQ Level 2 or similar)
• Knowledge of asset care principles
• Basic understanding of both mechanical and electrical systems
