Our client a global tech firm is seeking an Intermediate Project Manager to join their team in Johannesburg on a contract basis. They offer stability, growth, attractive rates and a great working environment.

An intermediate project manager manages moderately complex projects, coordinating teams, managing timelines, budgets, and scope, while ensuring successful delivery and stakeholder satisfaction.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for planning, executing, and closing projects, often with multiple stakeholders and cross[functional teams in DT (Cyber, Infrastructure\OPS, Operational Technology and Information Platforms and Services).
  • Manage project initiation by developing and ensuring the project charter approval, identify and engage stakeholders.
  • Maintain comprehensive and quality project documentation, including plans, schedules, reports, and meeting minutes.
  • Ensure that all project documentation is accurate and up-to-date in the PMO Toolset as well as project folders.
  • Identifying, managing, and communicating changes (risks and issues) that may affect the project.
  • Managing project team members by delegating tasks and setting expectations for performance.
  • Monitoring resource allocation, timelines, and other key metrics to ensure project milestones are met.
  • Facilitating meetings with stakeholders to ensure effective communication about projects.
  • Monitoring and controlling work input and scope to ensure that all projects remain on track and in control.
  • Ensuring the projects and activities are executed in the most efficient and agile way based on agreed company methodologies, tools, and processes.
  • Planning and managing program stakeholders, scope, activities, conflict resolution, and approach in and across a highly matrixed global organization through direct interaction and communication, regular status reports and personally managing escalations, when necessary.
  • Report on final progress on the project, control variances and ensure approvals.
  • Following the change methodology, participate, facilitate, drive the deliverables and manage feedback with the senior leadership on the project to ensure successful adoption.

Requirements:

  • Matric and a tertiary qualification.
  • 3 4 yrs experience in project governance and working with a PMO environment.
  • Proficiency in project management methodology, tools, and templates (includes project planning, schedule development, scope management and cost management).
  • Formidable team working skills across matrixed client, supplier, and geographically dispersed virtual teams.
  • Instrumental in the use of IT methodologies, processes, and standards for project management.
  • CAPM, PMP or similar project management certification is required.
  • MS project and\other similar scheduling tools is preferred .
  • Experience in delivery that includes the use of external supplier and offshore resources
  • Excellent communication skills and presenting to senior leadership
  • Experience in participating or driving change management as part of the project
  • Communicating with Senior stakeholders (Steercoms, Status reporting, Weekly meetings)
