EME is looking for a suitable candidate to fill the following vacancy:

Financial Accountant

This role reports to the Senior Financial Accountant, and is responsible for various accounting activities, i.e., creditors, and reconciliation of accounts, relating to the maintenance of a complete and accurate general ledger, and preparation of managerial reports and financial statements.

Key Responsibilities:

Financial Management

• Day-to-day accounting systems/transactions monitored and reviewed: General Ledger, Debtors, Fixed Assets, Bank, Payroll, Charges Recoverable, Taxation
• Reconciliation of intercompany and intracompany Customer, Supplier and Loan accounts
• Intercompany and intracompany confirmations
• Preparation of Journals
• Compiling General Ledger balance sheet reconciliations for all companies
• Management of daily and monthly Bank and Cash
• Reviewing of Right Holding Entities and Trusts transactions
• Preparation of the weekly cashflow forecast
• Internal controls implemented and monitored
• Preparation of annual financial statements on Caseware
• Preparation of annual and provisional tax calculations
• Compile foreign crew payroll
• Review local crew input compiled by HR and compile local crew excel crew commission
• Arranging foreign currency for foreign crew payment - Bank
• Compile payroll general ledger reconciliations
• Obtaining quarterly certificates of good standing from statutory institutions
• Submit NTA training claims

Reporting and Audits

• Input to monthly and annual audit packs
• Quarterly report packs compilation
• Year-end preparation and Year-end Audit deliverables
• Preparation of Audit Files and Annual Financial Statements for Right Holding Entities
• Review Annual Financial Statement for Trusts

Budget and Forecasts

• Input to annual budget and quarterly forecasts

Insurance Declarations

• Preparation of annual insurance declarations

Knowledge, Skills, and Attributes:

• High degree of accuracy
• Excellent interpersonal communication skills
• Ability to apply initiative, good judgement and creative thinking
• Meticulous attention to detail
• Good business acumen
• Ability to work under pressure and be deadline driven

Qualifications and Experience:

• Namibian citizen
• B. Comm Accounting Degree
• Minimum of 10 years post experience in a FMCG environment
• MS Office knowledge with advanced Excel skills
• Experience and knowledge in the fishing industry is an added advantage
• ERP SAP or Caseware Software experience
• Strong technical accounting and tax
