Erongo Marine Enterprises (PTY) LTD (“EME”) is a proudly Namibian registered fishing company, based in Walvis Bay, and is operating in the Horse Mackerel fishery. EME has an exemplary record in respect of its fishing operations as well as its focus on socio-economic investment and development, both regionally and nationally.

EME currently looking for suitable candidates to fill the following vacancy:

Boatswain

Reports to Chief Mate. Responsible for maintenance and repairs of the ship's hull and all its components, including its rigging, anchors, cables, deck and small boat operations.

Minimum Requirements & Duties

• Namibian citizenship
• Qualified Deck Rating Qualification and certificate in Survival Craft and Rescue Boats
• At least 10 years’ experience on a large Meridien type fishing vessel as Able Seaman.
• Experience in Horse Mackerel industry/on Horse Mackerel midwater trawlers is added advantage
• Valid mandatory certificates, as required by the Directorate of Maritime Affairs
• Operate and maintain shipboard equipment, operate and navigate small craft in all waters
• Manage ship’s rigging and lifesaving equipment, maintenance of the decks and its equipment
• Supervise deck crews in maintaining the ship and its equipment
• Transfer of material and personnel between ships at sea
• Experience in refuelling at sea, at anchorage and in port
• Responsible for igging tasks including brows, ladders and buoys
• Operations of high-speed small boat, boat maintenance and navigation, rescue operations
• Knowledge of speaking Russian language is an added advantage
