Purpose Of the Role:

The position of Buyer has become available at Blue Continent Products. This position is based at our Elbow Quay Offices and reports to the Procurement Manager.

Required Qualifications

• Related Procurement qualification is a prerequisite

• 3 years’ related experience in procurement of technical goods and services

• Possession of a valid code 8 driver’s license, own transport will be required

• Engineering/ Technical qualifications will be advantageous.

Key Job Outputs

• Oversee the end-to-end sourcing, pricing, ordering, and invoicing of vessel and land

    based supplies to ensure accuracy, cost-effectiveness, and timely delivery.

• Partner with technical and operations teams to appoint suppliers that meet quality standards

   while achieving cost efficiency.

• Negotiate pricing, delivery timelines, and product availability.

• Obtain and evaluate quotations to ensure effective replenishment of technical and operational

   stores for trawling vessels and land based.

• Ensure stock and product availability align with business demands.

• Provide effective procurement support to all departments within the business.

• Ensure the procurement process is completed efficiently and on time.

• Establish strong relationships with suppliers to ensure timeous delivery.

• Board vessels on sailing and docking days to confirm technical and procurement requirements

   and avoid delays with sailing schedules.

• Hands-on approach to ensure all goods are available as required, including but not limited to

   collection of goods from suppliers.

• Ensure signed delivery notes are obtained from General Stores and suppliers for accurate order

   receipting.

• Receive and analyze purchase requisitions.

• Open Purchases report - Following up on outstanding orders to ensure the timeous delivery

   thereof.

• GRIR & Retrospective PO’s report – Investigate and take corrective action.

• Ensure timely and effective resolution of purchase order and purchase requisition queries.

• Ensure that procurement is in line with Company Procurement Guidelines and Ethics, which

   further support BBBEE requirements.

• Computer literacy – SAP (procurement module), MS Office, MS Outlook

• Must be reliable

• Must be willing to work under pressure and be deadline driven.

• Willing to work weekends (standby) and irregular hours – especially sailing days.
