Senior Process Leader - Cannery (Lucky Star Operations)

 

Purpose of the Role

Take charge of the Cannery shift team to ensure that the cannery goals are met, and that the department reaches its targets

 

Key Job Outputs:

  • Production plans determined, and labour requirements arranged.
  • Assists cannery personnel to achieve financial and operational objectives by improving manufacturing processes, for example, optimized throughputs and yields and reduced absenteeism and downtime.
  • Assists and guides improvement projects and trains personnel.
  • Assists in shift planning and control of staff and personnel activities.
  • Monitoring and control of the production processes.
  • Optimized and sustained Housekeeping.
  • Ensure staff compliance to risk management system.
  • Ensure staff compliance with the Food Safety system.
  • Management and Motivation of staff.
  • Ensure disciplined staff through the enforcement of the Code of Conduct.
  • Conduct/support Internal HACCP/ISO/FSSC audits, follow up on findings and lead gaps closure plans.
  • Assist with NRCS and other external audits and follow up on findings and lead gaps closure action plans.

Knowledge, Skills and Attributes

  • Must be bilingual.
  • Must be highly motivated and self-driven (can work unsupervised).
  • Has the ability to work independently.
  • Must possess excellent organizational skills.
  • Must be able the able to work accurately in a pressurised environment without compromising on standards.
  • Must display attention to detail.
  • Must be deadline driven.
  • Must possess problem solving skills.
  • Must have good knowledge of the HACCP/ISO system; from implementation to maintenance.
  • Must have good decision-making skills.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively (verbal and written).
  • Must be prepared to work shifts (including weekends and long hours)
  • Must possess proven ability to project manage, implement, and improve systems and processes.
  • Must be willing to address own skills shortage.
  • Must be able to initiate Disciplinary hearings.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Mechanical Engineering Qualification or equivalent.
  • 5 years experience in a Cannery
  • Previous experience in a supervisor position will be advantageous.
