Erongo Marine Enterprises (PTY) LTD (“EME”) is a proudly Namibian registered fishing company, based in Walvis Bay, and is operating in the Horse Mackerel fishery. EME has an exemplary record in respect of its fishing operations as well as its focus on socio-economic investment and development, both regionally and nationally.

EME currently looking for suitable candidates to fill the following vacancy:

Radio Officer/Electrical Operator Acoustic

Reports to Captain. Responsible for receivinmg, recording and updating time, signals, check weather reports and carry out and receives all the information for the smooth sailing of the vessel. 

Minimum Requirements & Duties

• Namibian citizenship
• At least GMDSS General Operator’s Certificate and a technical qualification in acoustic Navigation and Fishing Electronic equipment.
• Five (5) years sea-going experience as acoustics operator
• Experience in Horse Mackerel industry/midwater trawlers is an added advantage
• Operate radio equipment to communicate with other ships
• Receive weather and navigational reports and warning, Coordinate radio-related aspects
• Examine & operate new equipment prior to installation, Operate and service acoustic equipment
• Repairs of radio equipment using electronic testing equipment, hand tools, and power tools
• Reviews applicable regulations regarding radio communications, and report violations.
• Sends, receives, and interprets coded messages.
• Monitors emergency frequencies to detect distress calls
• Knowledge of speaking Russian language is an added advantage
