Erongo Marine Enterprises (PTY) LTD (“EME”) is a proudly Namibian registered fishing company, based in Walvis Bay, and is operating in the Horse Mackerel fishery. EME has an exemplary record in respect of its fishing operations as well as its focus on socio-economic investment and development, both regionally and nationally.

EME currently looking for suitable candidates to fill the following vacancie:

Chief Mate

Reports to Captain. To assist Captain with navigation, fishing, managing other Mates, cargo, deck and general crew. Responsible for general upkeep of the vessel.

Minimum Requirements & Duties

• Namibian citizenship
• STW95 F Deck Officer Class 4 CoC (Operational Level)
• Valid mandatory certificates, as required by the Directorate of Maritime Affairs
• Five (5) years sea-going experience as Officer in charge of a navigational watch on a fishing vessel
• Experience as Officer in charge of a navigational watch and deck department management on a Meridian type vessel or large ex-Soviet built factory freezer trawlers is added advantage
• Strong understanding of relevant national and International Marine Legislation, particularly STCW 95-F ’95, as amended, SOLAS, ISM Code, MARPOL, ISPS regulations,
• Knowledge of Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Land Reform as well as Ministry of Works and Transport’s Acts and Regulations
• Experience working with multinationals in a challenging environment
• Computer literate (Microsoft office proficient)
• Environmental protection responsibilities, Vessel Security Officer duties
• Safety and firefighting operational responsibilities 
• Experience in Horse Mackerel industry/Horse Mackerel midwater trawler is added advantage
• Knowledge of speaking Russian language is an added advantage
