Erongo Marine Enterprises (PTY) LTD (“EME”) is a proudly Namibian registered fishing company, based in Walvis Bay, and is operating in the Horse Mackerel fishery. EME has an exemplary record in respect of its fishing operations as well as its focus on socio-economic investment and development, both regionally and nationally.

EME currently looking for suitable candidates to fill the following vacancies:

  1. Captain/Master

Purpose: Reports to Operations Manager. The captain ensures that the fishing vessel is seaworthy, oversees the purchase of supplies, gears, and equipment such as fuel, netting, and cables; obtains the required fishing permits and licenses, plans and oversees the fishing operation.

Minimum requirements & Duties

  • Namibian citizenship
  • STW95 F Deck Officer Class 3 CoC (Operational Level)
  • Valid mandatory certificates, as required by the Directorate of Maritime Affairs
  • 5 Years as the Captain of a midwater fishing trawler or 10 years as a Captain of a fishing trawler
  • Experience as a Captain on Meridian type vessel or large ex-Soviet built factory freezer trawlers is added advantage
  • Possess strong understanding of relevant national & international Marine Legislation, particularly STCW 95-F, as amended, SOLAS, ISM code, MARPOL, ISPS regulations, Ministry of Fisheries and Marine Resources Acts and Regulations, Ministry of Works and Transport Acts and Regulations
  • Experience working with multinationals in a challenging environment
  • Computer literate, Microsoft office proficient
  • Experienced in ship maneuvering & handling, Security awareness, Emergency procedures
  • To work pre-dominantly at sea, full responsibility for Vessel Safety and Sea worthiness
  • Management of the vessel and the crew, plan fishing strategy to meet daily fishing targets
  • Administration (Completion of logbooks, submission of required reports, etc.)
  • Ensuring overall compliance with Legislation and company Safety Management System onboard
  • Plan, coordinate and assist Operations Department with vessel maintenance
  • Knowledge of speaking Russian language is an added advantage
