Job Purpose:
The position of Senior HR Officer has become available within Wild Caught Seafood Division, based at Elbow Quay, Table Bay Harbour and reports to the Senior HRBP.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure the full recruitment processes of suitable sea-going candidates for the division is adhered to in line with the Company’s policies
- Ensure that vessels are properly manned for each trip in accordance with the SAMSA Safe Manning Certificate
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with Vessel Crew and Officers
- Manage the end to end Disciplinary and Grievance process as per policy and relevant legislation
- Co-ordinate and participate in all divisional disciplinary hearings
- Represent divisional cases at CCMA
- Attend and participate in annual Chamber wage negotiations with the HRBP
- Attend and engage in monthly Industry related meetings and forums
- Build and maintain strong relationships with relevant Union/s and Shop-stewards
- Foster strong industry relationships and contacts, thereby maintaining a database of critical sea-going candidates
- Ensure that the division recruits in line with its EE Plan
- Provide subject matter expertise to Line Managers, to ensure compliance is maintained around all relevant policies and procedures
- Salary input prepared timeously and accurately for the division
- Supervision of Crewing Officers and providing support to the team in respect of their personal development and coaching
- Analyse competency gaps within the division related to Training and Development to support succession planning
- Ensure that training, as per the TNA, is completed within the FY
- Compilation of monthly Divisional HR reporting
- Support the Group Transformation Manager in the Coordination of the Employment Equity Committee meetings and ensure its proper functioning and management of its administration
- Ensure that all requirements for successful performance reviews are in place and carried out on behalf of all employees, monitoring and administering the process
- Play an active role in driving our culture and values strategy
- Partner with relevant stakeholders on culture and employee engagement initiatives
- Drive Employee Wellness initiatives
- Undertake relevant projects associated with the role
- Manage all HR Administration as relevant to the role i.e. employee master data, leave, disability claims, onboarding/offboarding, WCA processes, etc.
- Manage leave system effectively
- Maintain employee database for all Hake Sea-going employees
Knowledge, Skills and Attributes:
- 3-year HR Degree or Diploma
- At least 5 years Generalist human resources experience, preferably gained in a similar or related industry
- Driver’s license/ own transport
Qualifications and Experience:
- Extensive knowledge of LRA, BCEA, SDA, EEA and OHSA
- MS Office Suite
- SAP (desirable not essential).
