Purpose of the role:
- To Manage the Cannery Food production Process to achieve planned production and efficiency targets.
Key Job Outputs:
- Planning: Annual and medium-term plans compiled in conjunction with the Manufacturing Executive.
- Production Planning and Set-up: Assist cannery personnel to achieve financial and operational objectives by improving manufacturing processes.
- Assist and guide improvement projects and train personnel.
- Operations which include, the management and control of the canning processes to ensure that all product specifications and production targets are met throughout the canning stages.
- Meet Health and Safety requirements that are aligned to relevant standards and polices.
- Problem-solving where deviations occur along with Senior Process Leaders, Quality Controllers and Maintenance.
- Production Reporting which includes, completion and signing off of documents, KPI’s reporting daily, variance analysis, and providing meaningful feedback and motivation for variances at monthly management meeting and implement appropriated corrective action to prevent re-occurrence.
- Risk Management: Compliance with relevant occupational health and safety laws, regulations and standards complied with by means of a Risk Management System in place, with the assistance of the required policies and procedures in place, ensuring 100% compliance to OHS legislations and Periodic audits of Risk Management System with corrective actions where necessary.
- People Management, Staff motivation
- Financial Management.
- Conduct Internal HACCP/FSSC audits and follow up on findings
- Assist with NRCS and other external audits and follow up on findings
- Assist with factory trials/new product development
- Assist operations personnel in reducing sub-standard production to <5%
Required Qualifications and Experience:
- Production management/ Operations management/ Mechanical engineering / Chemical Engineering / Food Technology Degree or Diploma
- Minimum of 10 years Production experience in canning facilities
- Minimum of 5 years Previous Line Management experience in canned fish Manufacturing Environment
- Experience in a Canning environment essential
- Computer literacy (Microsoft Office), Excel is a pre-requisite
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
