Our client, The South African Sugar Association (SASA) has a permanent employment opportunity for a Human Resources Officer within their Kwa-Shukela HR team based in Mount Edgecombe.

The Human Resources Division provides a comprehensive range of services to managers and employees in SASA, all of which aim to resource the organization with highly competent and effective people who are committed to serving the best interests of the South African sugar industry.

The Human Resources Officer's purpose within the Kwa-Shukela HR team is to support the Human Resources Manager in providing a full Generalist HR support service to allocated divisions within the business. This position contributes to the national human resources objectives by ensuring an accurate and efficient all-round HR service to the business. 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide overall HR generalist support to the HR Team
  • Compile & input information for HR monthly reporting
  • Ensure Legislative compliance to all employment legislation
  • Manage the provision of post-retirement medical aid benefits, processing via finance and attend daily admin
  • Handle all communication between SASA and its retired employees and the families of deceased employees
  • Ensure effective communication of fund rules and decisions to the diverse active members of the Fund within the organization
  • Co-ordination of all fund meetings
  • Monthly management of B-BBEE skills development
  • Liaise with Training Providers, booking of group training and capturing of training onto the HRIS
  • Sourcing of Training Providers for monthly lunch time talks
  • Co-ordinate fund Administer employee benefits, ensure new employees are registered on medical aid, retirement funding and provide benefit updates to employees
  • Liaise and coordinate with Fund Administrators regarding benefits and monthly consolations
  • Guide and support line managers with Human Resources practices and processes
  • Implementation of Human Resources initiatives and projects into the business as and when required
  • Complete all daily requirements as well as any other reasonable tasks and duties as assigned by management to meet the objectives of the business

Minimum Requirements

Education and Experience:

  • A relevant Human Resources Management qualification
  • 3-5 years' experience in an HR Generalist/Learning and Development role
  • Sound experience with an HRIS, experience with Sage People would be advantageous
  • In possession of a driver's license and preferably own transport

Knowledge and Skills

  • Excellent organizational and communication skills
  • Strong MS Office skills including MS Excel and MS Word
  • A strong team player
  • Ability to build and effectively manage interpersonal relationships at all levels
  • A good communicator
  • Good checking skills with attention to detail

Salary:

Market related
