Our Client, the South African Sugar Association (SASA), has a permanent vacancy for a Finance Manager (CA) based at Kwa Shukela in Mount Edgecombe, Kwa Zulu Natal.

The Finance and Administration division forms an integral support division that ensures the responsible custodianship of budgets and resources made available to SASA by the industry. Its primary objective is to provide expert and comprehensive support services required by the SASA divisions such as centralized financial processing, payroll, procurement, financial reporting, taxation, and treasury services.

Key to ensuring effective provision of this crucial support services is the Finance Manager

Reporting to the Finance Director this position will see you applying your all-round expertise as a CA (SA) in an interesting and highly principled environment that will give you and an in-depth insight into the financial operations of the organization and the sugar industry.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide comprehensive centralized payroll, procurement, and financial processing
  • Ensure a continuous assessment of business risk for the division to ensure good corporate governance by ensuring that all finance policies and procedures are always adhered to
  • Provide financial support services to the divisions (payroll, procurement, cashbook, and general ledger)
  • Assume responsibility for the preparation, phasing, and maintenance of the division's annual budgets
  • Preparation, reconciliation and/or reviewing of industry specific financial reports, taxation, and liaison with relevant stakeholders

Minimum Requirements:

Education and Experience:

  • CA (SA) with 5 years relevant experience in centralized corporate accounting environments with large teams
  • Exceptional knowledge of MS Excel and MS Word together with experience in Syspro or a similar accounting package
  • A clear credit and criminal record
  • A valid driver's license
  • Thorough understanding of financial, cost and management accounting practices and procedures

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, supported by an ability to interact with internal and external customers at various levels within the industry
  • Strong leadership skills and people skills, as well as diligence and planning and organizing are key to the successful performance of this position
  • Ability to work under pressure with stringent deadlines
