Job Purpose:

The Qualified Mechanic / Senior Technician is responsible for carrying out advanced diagnostics, maintenance, servicing, and repairs on the company's fleet of vehicles and equipment to ensure maximum reliability, safety, and operational availability. The incumbent provides technical expertise, supports junior technicians, and ensures all work is completed in accordance with manufacturer specifications, company standards, and legislative requirements.

The role is responsible for maintaining high-quality workmanship while minimising vehicle downtime and contributing to the overall efficiency of workshop operations.

 

Minimum Requirements

Qualifications

  • Grade 12 (Matric).
  • Qualified Diesel Mechanic or Motor Mechanic Trade Test Certificate.
  • Valid driver's licence (Code B essential; Code EC advantageous).

Experience

  • Minimum of 5 years' post-trade experience as a qualified mechanic.
  • Experience maintaining light and heavy commercial vehicles.
  • Experience with diesel and petrol engines.
  • Experience using electronic diagnostic equipment.
  • Experience in a fleet or commercial workshop environment.
  • Supervisory or mentoring experience will be advantageous.
